What Does a Parish Nurse Do?

  1. Educate on health and wellness
    • Planning and organizing seminars, workshops and/or classes on wellness

  2. Counsel on health issue
    • Meeting with church members to talk over health problems and answer questions.

  3. Identify and teach volunteers
    • Finding and training lay volunteers to serve as visitors, program leaders, and other volunteer activities

  4. Act as liaison with community health organizations
    • Keeping abreast of local resources, identifying suitable health care

  5. Clarify the close relationship between faith and health
    • Talking to church members about spiritual issues
